Franco Ascolese

After graduating with honors from the G. Martucci Conservatory in Salerno under the guidance of Maestro Salvatore Lombardi, and completing advanced studies at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and a Master of Arts in Music Performance in Lugano, Switzerland, he is currently completing the Soloist Master of Arts in Specialized Music Performance in Maestro Andrea Oliva’s class.

He has honed his skills with internationally renowned flutists such as Emmanuel Pahud, Sir James Galway, Jean-Claude Gérard, Patrick Gallois, Sébastian Jacot, Jacques Zoon, and other leading figures in the flute world. Having won numerous international competitions, he has performed as a soloist in some of the world’s most important venues, including the Beethoven House in Bonn, the A.N. Scriabin Hall in Moscow, the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Palazzo Montecitorio in Rome, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, TASIS Hall in Lugano, the Solitär at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Kleine Zaal at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Tribute Communities Recital Hall in Toronto, the Amphitheatre at the Cité de la Musique/Philharmonie in Paris, the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Studio Recital Hall at Bozar (Centre for Fine Arts) in Brussels, and—upcoming—the Gläserner Saal at the Musikverein in Vienna.

Passionate about teaching, he has conducted a masterclass at the A.N. Conservatory… …Scriabin in Moscow; he has taught at the conservatories of Udine and Benevento and served on the jury of the 3rd International Flute Competition “G. Gariboldi.” He has performed at the Milan Expo—sponsored by the Baptist Hospital of Miami, Florida—and in a concert series in Naples with the renowned pianist Maestro Bruno Canino. Recently, he has appeared as a soloist with various orchestras, performing live on radio and television at the RSI studios in Lugano with *ensemble900* and playing Jacques Ibert’s Concerto at the Royal Palace of Caserta. Finally, he recorded the complete works for flute and guitar by Eugène Bozza with guitarist Valerio Celentano for the Brilliant Classics label (a world premiere recording) and prepared and published an edition of J. E. Moldenit’s *Idea dell’Articolare – 6 Sonatas for Flute Solo*.
